Cover more miles and explore more of the world's extraordinary landscapes and cultures on one of our Road Cycling or Mountain Biking holidays. Whether you fancy a Himalayan mountain bike challenge or an Alpine road riding blast in preparation for your next sportive, you will find what you are looking for amongst our global selection of biking adventures. With a track record that stretches back almost 30 years, KE Adventure Travel has more accumulated experience of adventure cycling holidays than any other tour operator. Our range of popular biking adventures now includes holidays as different as Jordan's Dead 2 Red ride, Lake Titicaca to Machu Picchu in Peru, the Rajasthan Road Cycling Tour in India and the classic trans-Alp Geneva to Nice road biking adventure. Our biking holidays are separated into 3 types (Fat Tyre, Semi-Slick and Road Cycling) on the basis of the terrain involved and the type of bike and tyres required. Additionally, each of our holidays is graded on a scale of 1 to 12, with 12 being the most challenging. Please refer to our grading system, which identifies each holiday's level of difficulty and enables you to compare the difficulty of two or more cycling holidays of the same type.

Tour of Gran Canaria Road Bike

8 days       from  £1095 excl. flights*

The sheer drama and joy of Gran Canaria's mountainous interior remains almost undiscovered by British cyclists. Challenging climbs, sweeping descents, quiet roads, weather to make you grin, stunning coastal and mountain scenery, plus excellent hotels, make this a real winter cycling gem. No wonder the top pro biking teams return here winter after winter! After a warm-up day from our hotel in Maspalomas, we set off on a 5-day journey that takes us on an anticlockwise circuit of the island, revealing some of its most spectacular landscapes. Our rides will include sections in the lusher, greener north of the island, as well as in the desert-like south and in the central mountains. Our first day's ride takes us to the remote village of Soria, overlooking the deepest reservoir on the island. Then, our journey begins for real and starts out with a 3-day traverse across the central massif, from the south-east coast across to tropical Agaete in the far north-west. Magnificent scenery unfolds as we ride inland, surrounded by the towering Barranco de Tirajana. Then, from the quiet mountain village of St Bartholome, we make the challenging ascent to the highest point on the island at Pico de las Nieves (1951m). We'll also admire the majestic panoramas at Cruz de Tejeda (1500m), the geographical centre of the island, with views to distant Mount Teide on Tenerife. A day of thrilling descents, passing through the quirky village of Artenara, leads to the relaxing seaside resort of Agaete, before we set out to tackle the Dragon's Tail, a magnificent stretch of rugged coastal road, with snaking climbs and switchbacks and 1000 metre drop-offs for most of the way, probably one of the best coastal rides in Europe. We end the tour with maybe the best climb on the island - 'Serenity', 9 kilometres of super-smooth tarmac, taking a series of hair-pins that culminate at the mountain village of Soria (900m). An adrenalin packed descent finally brings us back to Earth, sea level, mass tourism and a seafront café where we can bask in the afterglow of an exhilarating blast round GC!

Cycle Lanzarote and Fuerteventura

8 days       from  £995 excl. flights*

Lying close to the Africa coast and at the same latitude as New Delhi, the adjacent islands of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura provide a great '˜winter sun' destination for road cycling. Perfect for those periods of the year when it can be challenging to venture out on the bike in the UK. The islands are dry and predictably sunny, with diverse desert, coastal and rugged volcanic landscapes and great roads. You could spend a week on either of the islands and not run out of roads to ride. But, it's the contrast and combination of the 2 islands, picking the best rides on each, that makes this holiday so special. Lanzarote is the classic, well-established winter getaway for sporting enthusiasts, whilst '˜Fuerte' is more raw, the new emerging kid on the block as a cycling destination. Plenty of low-cost flight options means that it's no problem to fly to Lanzarote and back home from Fuerteventura '“ and travelling between the islands couldn't be easier, it's just a 20-minute ferry ride. Our local, Welsh-expatriate, road cycling supremo has picked out 6 of his favourite rides, split between the islands. Starting out at the northern end of Lanzarote, a first highlight is the perfect '˜Category 2' climb to the viewpoint at Mirador del Rio, with stunning views across to the island, La Graciosa. A second loop takes us inland, through the vineyards of the world's strangest wine region, La Geria, and across to the windswept north coast and the majestic, cliff-framed beach of Famara. A final highlight of Lanzarote is the not-to-be-missed climb of Tabayesco and a traverse through the Fire Mountains of the Timanfaya National Park, to finish at the very south-west tip of the island. Once on Fuerteventura, more great rides await, including a ride along the Desert Dune Highway, the empty quarter of Pajara and the testing loop through the Betancuria Massif, the historic capital of the island, including the long climb to the island's paramount viewpoint at Mirador de Morro Velosa (669m). Cycling on both Lanzarote and Fuerteventura blends the classic with the new, the chance to be amongst the first to sample the cycling delights of '˜Fuerte'. Expect volcanic cones and craters, desert dunes, Cesar Manrique art, copper plains and white-painted windmills, camels, cacti and palm trees, rugged coastlines and comfortable hotels. And, above all, spectacular road cycling!
