Wildlife attractions in Guyana

Iwokrama Rainforest

Located in the heart of Guyana, the Iwokrama Rainforest is a vast area of protected and untouched tropical rainforest with the locals, in particular the Makushi people who have lived here for thousands of years, deeply involved in the conservation efforts. The area is home to a vast array of bird species who can be spotted on trails through the forest and on the 35 metres high Iwokrama Canopy Walkway. Iwokrama is also an excellent place for spotting the elusive jaguar with increasingly healthy populations of the big cat to be found here. Other attractions include the 350 metre high Turtle Mountain which offers breathtaking views of the forest canopy and a trip to Michelle’s Island to swim and visit Kurupukari Falls.
