Cities of interest in Guyana

Georgetown

Georgetown is the capital, chief port, and largest city in Guyana, situated on the right bank of the Demerara River Estuary. It was designed largely by the Dutch and is characterised by wide tree lined avenues and irrigation canals that criss-cross the city. Its attractions include its colonial architecture, several colourful markets and the famous botanical gardens.
