Kathmandu to Chitwan - Nepal Family Holiday

9 days       from  £1195 excl. flights*

Home to both high mountains and lowland jungle, the suprising diversity of Nepal makes it perfect for a family adventure holiday. We have designed this short family holiday to offer a taste of Nepal's finest elements, conscious that it should work within half term holidays as well as Christmas and Easter breaks. Our journey begins in Kathmandu, the vibrant Nepalese capital. After orientation, we visit a local market to buy the ingredients for a cookery lesson where we will learn how to make dhal and chappatis or other traditional Nepalese fare. The next day we drive west to begin our short trek through a part of the ‘Middle Hills' of the Himalaya, home to the Chepang people. From Hugdi, on the banks of the Trisuli River, we trek to the villages of Hattibang and Upardhangadhi where we will spend a total of 3 nights as the guests of villagers in their homes. Rising early, we hike to the summit of Sirauchuli (1900m) for sunrise views of the distant Himalaya to the north and the Indian Gangetic plane to the south. Shifting our focus to nearby Chitwan and its famous national park, we enjoy elephant rides and keep our eyes peeled for tigers! Returning to Kathmandu by plane, there's a last chance for souvenir hunting before saying a final Namaste! With a variety of activities and a wonderful insight into the life of the villages of rural Nepal, this is a family holiday which will provide lasting memories.
