The waterfalls of Kaieteur and Orinduik are some of the most spectacular and beautiful in the world. The Kaieteur Falls are situated on the Potaro River, a tributary of the Essequibo, and flow over a sandstone conglomerate tableland into a deep gorge some 250 metres below, or 5 times the height of Niagara Falls. The Orinduik Falls are located on the Ireng River against the backdrop of the rolling grass covered hills of the Pakaraima Mountains, forming a beautiful sight. Both Falls can be reached by plane on a daytrip from Georgetown.
