Tour Map of On Foot in Sri Lanka

Exploring on foot is one of the most rewarding ways to discover both Sri Lanka's past and its contemporary culture. Hiking through the jungle to ancient sites, alongside throngs of pilgrims on an ascent of sacred Adam's Peak, or to a Buddhist temple for the night, we experience these special places in a different way to the ordinary visitor. The natural beauty of the island is also ours to enjoy; trekking through the grasslands of the Knuckles mountain range, the primal rainforest of Sinharaja and emerald green tea plantations of the Highlands.

With over 200 holidays to choose from, KE Adventure Travel has one of the very best collections of trekking and walking holidays worldwide. Graded on a scale from 1 to 12, we have holidays to suit everyone. Our tougher treks are likely to involve multi-day hikes through wilderness regions, with porter support and tented accommodation. Whilst at the other end of the scale, our softer walking holidays are more likely to be hotel or lodge-based with a day-walk format and an emphasis on uncovering the area's history, culture and cuisine. From our earliest days we've developed a range of treks that include celebrated classics such as Peru's Inca Trail trek, the ascent of Tanzania's Kilimanjaro and the ever popular Everest Base Camp trek in Nepal. Alongside these, we have always made it a priority to seek out distinctive and unique itineraries in less familiar areas such as Armenia, Cameroon, Madagascar and Burma. Whichever of our trekking or walking holidays you choose to undertake, you can be sure you'll enjoy breaking out of your day-to-day routine and exploring exotic landscapes on foot, with the chance to experience different cultures.

Sri Lanka Tracks and Trails

14 days       from  £1695 excl. flights*

With its 2500 metre peaks, emerald-green tea plantations, vast forest reserves and tropical coastline, few places can rival the geographical variety of this teardrop-shaped island at the southern tip of India. This Sri Lanka walking holiday features a 2-day traverse of the spectacular Knuckles Range and 2 days trekking in the Namunukula Range which until recently was off limits to visitors, as well as day hikes in the Thangamale Reserve, on the Horton Plains and a climb to the summit of sacred Adam's Peak (2243m) to catch the sunrise. The holiday also includes many historical, cultural and archaeological highlights, such as the natural rock fortress of Sigiriya and the former capital of Kandy and offers a real insight into Sri Lankan rural life away from the beaten track including an unforgettable evening at the remote Monaragala lake temple. We also have some recreation time at the surfers' paradise of Aurugam Bay and a jeep safari in the Yala National Park (noted for its abundant leopard population) and we end this fantastically varied walking holiday at a beautiful, tranquil beach of Induruwa.
