Peru is a hugely popular adventure travel destination. The north of Peru is more off the beaten track, with the option of historical discovery or magnificent trekking in the Cordillera Blanca and Huayhuash. You'll fly first to Chiclayo, to visit the Ventarron Temple, home to the oldest wall paintings in the Americas, before continuing on to Sipan and the stunning Lambayeque Museum, one of the finest in the country. After a chance to visit the witches market you will then continue to Trujillo, once the heartland of the Moche civilisation, where you will pay a visit to the impressive Temples of the Sun and Moon. You will also explore the Chimu archaeological ruins at Chan Chan, site of the largest adobe city on earth, before finishing your journey in the coastal town of Chicama, where you can relax and enjoy the beaches of Peru's Pacific coast. | |
