The journey then continues towards Fez, one of the oldest and most complete medieval cities in the world, where you'll have time to wander its winding streets before heading out along the 'Road of a Thousand Kasbahs' and into the dunes and oases of the Sahara.Next is Marrakech and its labyrinthine medina, which offers up a setting straight from the pages of the Arabian Nights. Here you'll have some time to enjoy the unique delights of its famous Djemma El Fna, before turning west towards the Atlantic coast and the charming fortified town of Essaouira.

Moroccan Desert Adventure

Lying beyond the towering barrier of the Atlas Mountains, the seemingly endless sands of the Western Sahara stretch out towards sub-Saharan Africa and beyond. This incredible journey takes you across the high passes of the Atlas and into the northern reaches of the world's hottest desert, on an adventure that encompasses imperial cities, Berber villages and the breathtaking dunes of the Sahara.You'll begin in Fez, home to one of the most complete medieval cities in the Arab world. From here you then drive into the landscapes of Africa's highest mountain range, travelling through the tribal lands of the Berbers to the edge of the Sahara and the spectacular dunes of Erg Chebbi. After camping in the desert you then continue through the famous oases of the Dades Valley, before heading back into the mountains to enjoy the hospitality of the Berbers, the 'Kings of the Atlas'. Staying in traditional Berber villages you'll spend a little time exploring the mountains and villages on foot, before the climax of the journey sees you amongst the labyrinthine alleys and medinas of Marrakech, one of Morocco's most captivating cities.

A visit to the nearby cities of Meknes and Volulbis then provides a chance to discover some of the best preserved Roman ruins in the country, before you head south and across the Middle Atlas.Here you'll take the opportunity to enjoy a bit of relaxing down time by the shores of the lovely Bin el Ouidane Lake, before experiencing the delights of Marrakech, Morocco's largest city.
