Lying on the ancient Silk Route, the most well known city is the evocative Samarkand, famed for its Registan square which boast some of the most spectacular Islamic Architecture in Central Asia. We also visit the historic cities of Khiva and Bokhara, as well as traversing the Kizilkum Desert, and searching out Bronze Age petroglyphs at the Sarmysh Gorge. Uzbekistan's history has been shaped by an enticing blend of Islam and the old Soviet communism; as well as Genghis Khan and the founder of the Moghul Empire. We will explore ancient cities, the modern capital and have a great chance to meet the friendly and welcoming Uzbek people. |
