Explore the historical highlights of Poland, Ukraine, Belarus and Lithuania on this three week holiday. We travel mostly between the cities by train, passing through glorious countryside, before immersing ourselves in Medieval buildings, historical squares, chic pavement cafes and micro-breweries. We also discover the impressive UNESCO listed Wieliczka Salt Mines and Nesvizh and Mir Castles, have the opportunity to visit Auschwitz and see the many monasteries and catacombs at Lavra and old Soviet sculptures at Grutas Park. In the health resort of Druskininkai we'll have the opportunity to relax and go on lakeside walks, hire a bike or soak in one of 20 different bath houses.

Discover Ukraine and Moldova

On this journey of discovery, we will travel through Ukraine and Moldova including the unique breakaway state of Trans-Dniester and the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, which back in 1986 became the site of one of the most devastating disasters in the history of mankind. Whilst in Ukraine we discover the capital Kiev including travelling to the deepest metro station in the world, Arsenalna. We also spend time in the beautiful cities of Lviv and Odessa, as well as the stunning Carpathian Mountains. En route to Odessa we even get to experience a decommissioned nuclear missile launch site. In Moldova we explore the capital Chisinau and Tiraspol, the capital of Trans-Dniester, which harks back to the days of the USSR. On this first ever recce departure we will be asking you for feedback to help us put together an exciting new trip for 2018 to this region, which has emerged from behind the Iron Curtain, but still isn't on the main tourist trail. Please note that in order to be permitted to enter the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone and to travel on this holiday you must be at least 18 years old.

Explore the historical highlights of Poland and Ukraine. We stay in three of Poland's greatest cities: Warsaw, Wroclaw and Krakow and then journey on to Lviv, Lutsk, Zhytomyr and Kiev in Ukraine. We travel between the cities mostly by train, passing through glorious countryside, before immersing ourselves in Medieval buildings, historical squares, chic pavement cafes and micro-breweries. We also discover the impressive Wieliczka Salt Mines, have the opportunity to visit Auschwitz, go to the deepest metro station in the world, see the many monasteries and catacombs at Lavra and stroll amongst the greenery at the Tunnel of Love.

Highlights of Krakow to Vilnius

On this two week trip we travel from Krakow in Poland to Vilnius in Lithuania using mostly trains between the cities, passing through glorious countryside, before immersing ourselves in Medieval buildings, historical squares, chic pavement cafes and micro-breweries. Along the way we will stroll through the Tunnel of Love, have the chance to see an abandoned replica of the Nazis' Plaszow Labour Camp and make chocolates. We'll also visit the many monasteries and catacombs at Lavra, the UNESCO listed Nesvizh and Mir Castles and Grutas Park, where a collection of old Soviet sculptures are on display. Towards the end of our holiday we will stay in the lovely health resort of Druskininkai and have the opportunity to relax, go on lakeside walks, hire a bike or soak in one of 20 different bath houses.

Kiev, Minsk and Vilnius

On this fast paced holiday we journey from Kiev in Ukraine through to Minsk in Belarus and finish up in Lithuania's capital city, Vilnius. Along the way we'll travel by overnight train, visit the UNESCO listed Nesvizh and Mir Castles. We also visit Grutas Park, where a collection of old Soviet sculptures are on display. We will also stay overnight in the health resort of Druskininkai where you'll have the chance to go on lakeside walks, hire a bike or relax in one of 20 different bath houses.

Highlights of Krakow, Lviv and Kiev

On this fast paced trip we travel from Krakow in Poland to Lviv in Ukraine by overnight train and from here we go by road to the capital city of Kiev. Along the way we will discover the winding cobbled streets in Lutsk historical centre, spend the night in Zhytomyr and stroll through the Tunnel of Love at Klevan. In Krakow there's the chance to walk to Liban Quarry, where you can see an abandoned replica of the Nazis' Plaszow Labour Camp that was built for Steven Spielberg's film 'Schindler's List'. There's the opportunity in Lviv to take part in a chocolate making masterclass. Whilst in Kiev we'll visit the deepest metro station in the world, Arsenalna, and explore the Lavra Historical and Cultural Reserve.
