On this sixteen-day adventure we will discover Europe's newest countries and travel by rail through some of the Balkan's most inspiring scenery. Former Yugoslavia is still a path untrodden by many travellers after war and communism reigned strong for much of the 20th century. However, now there are thriving new capitals open for discovery and untouched countryside to be seen. This fast paced trip will get under the skin of Tito's Yugoslavia, as well as visiting Europe's oldest lake, Lake Ohrid, and Croatia's largest national park, Plitvice.

We are delighted to introduce this new tour to the northern shores of the Adriatic which are often overlooked yet hold many treasures. Starting with two nights in the must-see city of Venice, with a tour and free time to explore, we follow Italy’s coastline into Slovenia, where we explore the vast Postojna Cave and learn about the country’s very own Robin Hood at Predjama Castle. Continuing into Croatia we experience the undulating Istrian peninsula, including Pula’s spectacular Roman amphitheatre, before heading inland to Zagreb, the young capital with a long history. We balance all this with opportunities to enjoy the local delicacies, tasting wine, beer, olive oil and chocolate on our journey.
