With over 200 holidays to choose from, KE Adventure Travel has one of the very best collections of trekking and walking holidays worldwide. Graded on a scale from 1 to 12, we have holidays to suit everyone. Our tougher treks are likely to involve multi-day hikes through wilderness regions, with porter support and tented accommodation. Whilst at the other end of the scale, our softer walking holidays are more likely to be hotel or lodge-based with a day-walk format and an emphasis on uncovering the area's history, culture and cuisine. From our earliest days we've developed a range of treks that include celebrated classics such as Peru's Inca Trail trek, the ascent of Tanzania's Kilimanjaro and the ever popular Everest Base Camp trek in Nepal. Alongside these, we have always made it a priority to seek out distinctive and unique itineraries in less familiar areas such as Armenia, Cameroon, Madagascar and Burma. Whichever of our trekking or walking holidays you choose to undertake, you can be sure you'll enjoy breaking out of your day-to-day routine and exploring exotic landscapes on foot, with the chance to experience different cultures.

New Zealand - North to South

19 days       from  £4295 excl. flights*

Kia Ora! Welcome to New Zealand. To the Maori, New Zealand is Aotearoa, Land of the Long White Cloud and the contrasting North and South Islands have become a patchwork of Maori, European, Asian and Pacific Island history. Geographically, New Zealand is an outdoor lover's paradise with volcanoes, mountains, beautiful coastline, forest, beaches and huge lakes to enjoy. With only 4 million inhabitants in a country the size of the UK, there is a lot of fresh air and open space! Over 3 weeks we have attempted to include the hiking highlights of this wonderful and welcoming country. Starting in the North Island, we arrive in Auckland from where we transfer to volcanic Rotarua and hike the Tongariro Crossing, a traverse of an active volcano and ‘the best 1-day hike in New Zealand'. Then taking a ferry across the Cook Straits from Wellington to Picton on the South Island, we enter the famous Marlborough Sounds where we enjoy a trek to remote and lovely Nydia Bay and then hike part of the stunning Abel Tasman Coastal Track. Driving down the West Coast, we visit the Pancake Rocks at Punakaiki and hike on the Fox Glacier. Looping inland via Lake Wanaka, we reach the gateway to the amazing Fjordland at Te Anau. Here we make short and scenic hikes on the Kepler and Routeburn Tracks and have the option to take a cruise on Milford Sound. Making our way back north to Christchurch, we have included a final day hike to the Mueller Hut below Mount Cook and then an overnight hike to the Rex Simpson hut near Lake Tekapo, recently declared an International Dark Sky Reserve. Stargazing from the hut, we can reflect on our unforgettable visit to this amazing country, far away in the South Pacific.
