With over 200 holidays to choose from, KE Adventure Travel has one of the very best collections of trekking and walking holidays worldwide. Graded on a scale from 1 to 12, we have holidays to suit everyone. Our tougher treks are likely to involve multi-day hikes through wilderness regions, with porter support and tented accommodation. Whilst at the other end of the scale, our softer walking holidays are more likely to be hotel or lodge-based with a day-walk format and an emphasis on uncovering the area's history, culture and cuisine. From our earliest days we've developed a range of treks that include celebrated classics such as Peru's Inca Trail trek, the ascent of Tanzania's Kilimanjaro and the ever popular Everest Base Camp trek in Nepal. Alongside these, we have always made it a priority to seek out distinctive and unique itineraries in less familiar areas such as Armenia, Cameroon, Madagascar and Burma. Whichever of our trekking or walking holidays you choose to undertake, you can be sure you'll enjoy breaking out of your day-to-day routine and exploring exotic landscapes on foot, with the chance to experience different cultures.

Explore Madagascar

15 days       from  £1895 excl. flights*

Madagascar is located in the Indian Ocean some 250 miles from Africa's east coast. More than twice the size of Great Britain, Madagascar is the world's fourth largest island and contains an incredible variety of landscape and ecosystems. The island lies almost entirely between the equator and the Tropic of Capricorn and therefore is sub-tropical but as well as extensive rain forest and lush jungle, Madagascar contains extensive highland areas rising to over 2500m giving rise to temperate grassland and deep canyons. Madagascar's long isolation from any other land mass also means that approximately 80% of its plant and animal life is found only here, and this fact is even more impressive when you consider that the island accounts for 5% of the entire planet's plant and animal species. This amazing adventure holiday combines the best of Madagascar's trekking with a chance to experience its great cultural and natural variety. Travelling from Tulear on the south-west coast to the capital city of Antananarivo, our first walk is within the Isalo National Park, walking amongst dramatic rock formations, open grassland and forest. A transfer then brings us to the Andringitra Mountains, for a 3-day trek and the opportunity to summit the huge granite dome of Peak Boby (2658m), Madagascar's second highest mountain. We aim to get to the summit as the sun rises - an unforgettable experience. Continuing our journey north, we enjoy the contrast of a day-walk in the decidedly lush rainforest of Ranomafana, home to medicinal plants and several species of lemurs. Our last stop is in Perinet National Park to see the amazing Indri indri lemur with their distinctive call. Craft workshop visits, colourful produce markets and village walks allow plenty of opportunity to meet the friendly people of this engaging and little-known land. Providing an unbeatable mix of trekking and sightseeing, this is a dream holiday for nature lovers.

Tour Map of Madagascar Wilderness Trek

Verdant rainforests, dramatic coastal landscapes and tropical islands are all part of this trekking adventure in Madagascar. Getting off the beaten track we explore some of the lesser known reserves, searching for wildlife including lemurs and tree frogs. Trekking through the rainforest we visit local communities and learn about their culture. We also catch a ferry to the exotic island of Sainte Marie and hope to see whales in the Indian Ocean.
