In Umbria we stay in ancient Orvieto, perched high on an outcrop of volcanic rock, and in the picturesque, walled town of Spello. Our hikes take us from the spectacular Ponte del Torri aqueduct near Spoleto, to the slopes of Mount Subasio and streets of St Francis's Assisi. In Orvieto and Montefalco we enjoy some wine tasting.
