Volcanoes, Gelato and Pizza 8 days
from £895 excl. flights* Italy and the Amalfi Coast may be famed for its delicious food, stunning coastline and its 10 hours of daily sunshine, but they also have all the ingredients for an amazing family adventure! Our base for this great Italian family holiday is in the traditional hillside village of Agerola where we stay in a family-friendly hotel. During the week we explore the rugged Amalfi coast taking in several short walks, retracing the steps of Romans, ancient traders and even modern-day packs of mules. With visits to the pink town of Positano and Amalfi itself, we embrace the Italian culture with time for the best gelato in the world and plenty of opportunity for swimming. We have more family fun with a boat ride from Amalfi harbour along the coast and out to the Isle of Capri, which is Amalfi in miniature. Here we walk the lanes of the 'passeggiata and the Via Tragara to see the limestone stacks of the Faraglioni. Back on the mainland, we visit the town of Pompeii, buried for centuries by volcanic ash and we walk up Mount Vesuvius to look into the smouldering crater. The week ends with a lesson in pizza making - magnifico for the bambinos! |
