With over 200 holidays to choose from, KE Adventure Travel has one of the very best collections of trekking and walking holidays worldwide. Graded on a scale from 1 to 12, we have holidays to suit everyone. Our tougher treks are likely to involve multi-day hikes through wilderness regions, with porter support and tented accommodation. Whilst at the other end of the scale, our softer walking holidays are more likely to be hotel or lodge-based with a day-walk format and an emphasis on uncovering the area's history, culture and cuisine. From our earliest days we've developed a range of treks that include celebrated classics such as Peru's Inca Trail trek, the ascent of Tanzania's Kilimanjaro and the ever popular Everest Base Camp trek in Nepal. Alongside these, we have always made it a priority to seek out distinctive and unique itineraries in less familiar areas such as Armenia, Cameroon, Madagascar and Burma. Whichever of our trekking or walking holidays you choose to undertake, you can be sure you'll enjoy breaking out of your day-to-day routine and exploring exotic landscapes on foot, with the chance to experience different cultures.

The E5 Trans-Alp

10 days       from  £1395 excl. flights*

This holiday focuses on the highest and most spectacular section of the E5 long distance hike. After a first night in Mittelberg, our trek begins in the picturesque Bavarian ski resort of Oberstdorf and continues for a week, crossing the mighty mountains of the Tyrol to the medieval town of Meran in Italy. With an atmospheric mix of mountain refuge and charming guesthouse accommodation, we experience the best of this route, as we stay high on some nights and descend to pretty villages on others. Hiking through flower-spangled meadows and beside Alpine lakes, we ascend via rocky ridges and high passes to a number of viewpoint summits, such as Seekopf (2412m) and Rettenbach Ferner (2820m). This part of the E5 is renowned for its spectacular scenery and for the abundance of its Alpine wildlife, including marmots and ibex. This is a classic and age-old trans-alp route, trodden around 5000 years ago by the famous ‘Iceman', Otzi.

With almost 30 years in the business of operating adventure holidays, there is no-one better able to look after your winter holidays than KE. Our winter holidays are all about having fun in the snow and the mountains, away from the downhill crowds and busy ski resorts. Instead, we seek out the quieter areas; ski touring in Sweden and Iceland, cross-country skiing across France's Jura Mountains, snowshoeing in the Alps and Pyrenees. With KE you can also get friendly with the local huskies on a dog-sledding adventure in Scandinavia, sleep in an igloo in Slovenia or explore the frozen interior of the far-flung island of South Georgia whilst making the classic ‘Shackleton Crossing' on skis. If you like snow, we definitely have a holiday to suit you. Quite aside from the popular pastimes of downhill skiing and snowboarding there are many adventurous activities that come into their own during the winter months and which can be enjoyed as a group activity with like-minded travellers. Our winter programme is divided into three holiday types: winter multi-activity, ski touring, and snowshoeing.

Black Forest Ski Traverse

7 days       from  £1495 excl. flights*

The German Black Forest is a cross-country skiers' paradise with an extensive network of prepared ski trails throughout the winter. Following a series of linked cross-country ski trails developed in the 1970s and known as the Fern-Ski-Wanderweg, we make a classic north to south ski traverse of the Black Forest covering 100km as we head toward the German - Swiss border. Skiing through a diverse landscape of deep, forested valleys, high ridges and through farming communities steeped in tradition, we stay each night in a comfortable hotel or guest house and on most nights have the luxury of a hot tub or sauna to relax in! Cross country skiing just doesn't get better than this!
