Starting our journey in the UNESCO World Heritage town of Luang Prabang, we experience the highlights of Laos, from this ancient royal capital to the stunning natural beauty of the southern “4000 islands” region. This often overlooked country continues to retain its traditional character and charm, and is one of our favourites in Southeast Asia. Continuing overland to Cambodia, we’ll not only venture out onto the mighty Mekong to spot Irrawaddy Dolphins but we’ll also spend time slowly exploring on two wheels the rural tranquillity of the Kratie region. Next we’ll journey to Siem Reap to visit the magnificent temple complexes of Angkor, before finishing in Phnom Penh, Cambodia’s riverside capital. Here we’ll learn more about Cambodia’s modern history, as well as its crumbling colonial past. This promises to be a fascinating journey through Laos and Cambodia’s past and present, offering magnificent scenery, stunning sights, friendly locals and amazing food!

This exciting journey, following the course of the Mekong River, takes us through some of the more remote regions of Laos and Cambodia. We visit Champassak in southern Laos, home to Khone Falls, South-east Asia's largest waterfall, and Si Phan Don Archipelago, otherwise known as the 4,000 islands. We stay in traditional rural villages and have the chance to search for the elusive and rare Irrawaddy River dolphins, as well as explore the cultural cities of Vientiene, Luang Prabang, Phnom Penh and Siem Reap - the gateway to the iconic temples of Angkor.

While Cambodia may be most famous for the Angkor Temples at Siem Reap, there is lots more to explore in this endlessly fascinating country. This new and comprehensive tour starts in Phnom Penh, Cambodia’s riverside capital and travels lesser known routes out to the jungles of Mondulkiri to spend time at an elephant rescue project, and then on to Kratie on the mighty Mekong River to see the rare Irrawaddy dolphins. During the trip we’ll take in remote Preah Vihear, off limits for years and easily the most dramatically located temple in Cambodia. And we also visit colonial Battambang, and the ruins of Angkor Wat (of course). There will be a number of walking opportunities and lots of chances to interact with the wonderful people of Cambodia, all of whom will have their own unique story to tell about life under the Khmer Rouge. This trip offers the best opportunity to get under the skin of this amazing country and see a wide variety of its landscapes, wildlife and ancient monuments, as well as experience daily life and one of Asia’s most exotic cuisines.

Trekking peacefully from temple to temple on footpaths known to few, we escape the crowds and see them in a different light. In Cambodia's far eastern province of Mondulkiri, we hike to waterfalls and tribal villages and enjoy the unique experience of a day walking with elephants at the Elephant Valley Project.

This short twin-centre adventure focusses on the iconic highlights of Cambodia. We discover the sights of the capital city of Phnom Penh where we learn about the dark days of the Khmer Rouge before driving to Siem Reap, from where we cruise the largest lake in the region, Tonle Sap, and see floating villages. We spend three full days exploring the vast complex of the Temples of Angkor, where we can marvel at iconic Angkor Wat and pretend to be Lara Croft at Ta Prohm.
