With over 200 holidays to choose from, KE Adventure Travel has one of the very best collections of trekking and walking holidays worldwide. Graded on a scale from 1 to 12, we have holidays to suit everyone. Our tougher treks are likely to involve multi-day hikes through wilderness regions, with porter support and tented accommodation. Whilst at the other end of the scale, our softer walking holidays are more likely to be hotel or lodge-based with a day-walk format and an emphasis on uncovering the area's history, culture and cuisine. From our earliest days we've developed a range of treks that include celebrated classics such as Peru's Inca Trail trek, the ascent of Tanzania's Kilimanjaro and the ever popular Everest Base Camp trek in Nepal. Alongside these, we have always made it a priority to seek out distinctive and unique itineraries in less familiar areas such as Armenia, Cameroon, Madagascar and Burma. Whichever of our trekking or walking holidays you choose to undertake, you can be sure you'll enjoy breaking out of your day-to-day routine and exploring exotic landscapes on foot, with the chance to experience different cultures.

The E5 Trans-Alp

10 days       from  £1395 excl. flights*

This holiday focuses on the highest and most spectacular section of the E5 long distance hike. After a first night in Mittelberg, our trek begins in the picturesque Bavarian ski resort of Oberstdorf and continues for a week, crossing the mighty mountains of the Tyrol to the medieval town of Meran in Italy. With an atmospheric mix of mountain refuge and charming guesthouse accommodation, we experience the best of this route, as we stay high on some nights and descend to pretty villages on others. Hiking through flower-spangled meadows and beside Alpine lakes, we ascend via rocky ridges and high passes to a number of viewpoint summits, such as Seekopf (2412m) and Rettenbach Ferner (2820m). This part of the E5 is renowned for its spectacular scenery and for the abundance of its Alpine wildlife, including marmots and ibex. This is a classic and age-old trans-alp route, trodden around 5000 years ago by the famous ‘Iceman', Otzi.

The Grossglockner - Austria's Triple Crown

8 days       from  £2195 excl. flights*

This exciting new itinerary offers the opportunity to climb the three highest peaks wholly within Austria, in a single week's holiday. Joining in Munich we drive via Innsbruck to the picturesque '˜mountaineers' village of Vent in the Otztal Valley. Making use of the available uplift we climb to the stunningly located Breslauer Hut (2844m), our base for the first of our Three Peak Challenge. From here we make the ascent of Austria's second highest peak, the Wildspitze. Following the climb we have a day to recuperate as we drive through the spectacular mountain scenery of the Tyrol to the Hohe Tauern. This group of mountains contains the highest peaks in the Alps east of the Brenner Pass and on our arrival here we make use of the uplift and have a short walk to the Kursinger Hut (2558m) below the pyramid peak of the Grossvenediger (the Great Venetian), the second of our challenge peaks. The climax of the holiday is an ascent of Austria's highest peak, the Grossglockner (3798m), which we climb from the Adlersruhe (3454), the highest hut in the Tyrol. After a celebration of our achievement and overnight in the quintessential Tyrolean village of Kals, we return to Munich to resume '˜normal' life.

The Berliner Hohenweg

8 days       from  £1095 excl. flights*

East of the Stubai Alps and the Brenner Pass between Austria and Italy, the tranquil Zillertal Alps lying within the province of Tyrol, have a peaceful ambience far removed from some of the more popular Alpine walking areas. Only a handful of trails access these 3000 metre plus peaks from Austria and the Berliner Hohenweg is the only well-known route on the north side of the main ridge. This excellent trek makes a loop to the south of the winter ski resort of Mayrhofen, keeping generally to the north of the highest Zillertal peaks. We trek in 3 days to the stunningly located Berliner Hut beneath the Grosser Moseler (3480m.) and from there make the challenging crossing of the the Schönbichler Scarte Pass at 3081m. Beyond the sparkling lake of Schlegeisstausee, we climb to the Olperer and the Friesenberghaus Hut and we complete the circuit with a traverse high above the Zemmgrund Valley and a final descent to the pretty alpine patures at Pitzen Alm. With options of climbing the wlkers' peaks of Schonbichler Horn (3134m) and Hoher Riffler (3281m) for spectacular views of the surrounding glaciers and peaks, this outstanding route offers a great taste of Austrian Alpine trekking.
