Our Discovery collection draws together the best of our holidays that focus on the culture of a destination, as well as on visiting iconic sights and embracing local traditions. Some of these Discovery holidays will also have an element of activity, combining sightseeing with short walks, for example. Others might have a multi-activity holiday format, including biking and/or rafting, for instance, and these holidays are specifically designed for the adrenaline seeker! Also within our discovery collection are those of our holidays with a wildlife emphasis, photographic workshops, and polar cruise holidays. Never too physically demanding, these are predominantly touring holidays and their grade (usually towards the lower end of our 1 to 12 scale) reflects, in part, the remoteness of the area visited and the conditions likely to be encountered. Our Discovery holidays allow the discerning traveller to get right to the heart of many of the world's most stimulating destinations.

Game Trails of Zimbabwe & Botswana

17 days       from  £2295 excl. flights*

From the rainbow nation of South Africa, this safari adventure tracks Africa's ‘Big 5' through Zimbabwe and Botswana as we travel across ancient Shona lands and via one of Africa's most iconic natural features, Victoria Falls. Beginning with South Africa's headline safari experience at Kruger National Park, we explore the remote corners of Letubi and Pefara in hope of our first African big-cat encounter. Travelling into Zimbabwe across the panoramic Beit Bridge, we venture onto one of Southern Africa's most treasured sights, the ruins of Great Zimbabwe. According to legend, this ancient land of the Queen of Sheba and its well preserved ruins are an exceptional testimony to the Bantu civilisation of Shona spanning 11th to 15th centuries. Continuing our journey of Zimbabwe's history, we arrive at the historic Matobo National Park, resting place of Cecil John Rhodes. This maze of giant kopjes (granite rocks), perched atop of each other is a staggering sight and with excellent rhino viewing opportunities at sunset, our visit to Matobo is an unforgettable experience. The following two days at Zimbabwe's Hwange NP is a supreme experience to track the abundant elephant, leopard and wild dog populations. Stopping at the border, we spend two nights at the dramatic Victoria Falls. Crossing into Botswana our game tracking experience takes to the Chobe River as we embark on a sunset safari cruise. Our grand finale to this natural world experience is the world-famous Okavango Delta. From our exclusively located campsite, we combine open sided 4WD and traditional Mokoro canoe to seek out hippo, lion, cheetah, hyenas, elephant and the plentiful birdlife. Completing our tracks in Southern African, we return to Johannesburg via the Khama Rhino Sanctuary for a vibrant end to this supreme safari adventure. This is one of our Explore International holidays. Participants on these trips can book through KE or through one of our international partners. This helps us to gather together sufficient numbers of like-minded adventurers to get your holiday up and running quickly. Led by an English-speaking guide, the cosmopolitan nature of these groups can be an important part of the experience!
