How to choose your trip to Tanzania

One of Africa's top destinations, Tanzania offers a wealth of options for adventure travellers. The most popular safari tours focus on the famous attractions in the north of the country (including the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater) while southern Tanzania offers vast, unspoilt reserves far from the tourist crowds. The country's other main attraction lies in conquering Africa's highest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro, with various routes available below. Many trips to Tanzania will finish in the paradise island of Zanzibar. Tanzania is also one of the key stops on overland journeys through Africa - either combining the safaris of the east of the continent or along the epic Great African Journey.

With over 200 holidays to choose from, KE Adventure Travel has one of the very best collections of trekking and walking holidays worldwide. Graded on a scale from 1 to 12, we have holidays to suit everyone. Our tougher treks are likely to involve multi-day hikes through wilderness regions, with porter support and tented accommodation. Whilst at the other end of the scale, our softer walking holidays are more likely to be hotel or lodge-based with a day-walk format and an emphasis on uncovering the area's history, culture and cuisine. From our earliest days we've developed a range of treks that include celebrated classics such as Peru's Inca Trail trek, the ascent of Tanzania's Kilimanjaro and the ever popular Everest Base Camp trek in Nepal. Alongside these, we have always made it a priority to seek out distinctive and unique itineraries in less familiar areas such as Armenia, Cameroon, Madagascar and Burma. Whichever of our trekking or walking holidays you choose to undertake, you can be sure you'll enjoy breaking out of your day-to-day routine and exploring exotic landscapes on foot, with the chance to experience different cultures.

Kilimanjaro Rongai Route Trek

8 days       from  £2195 excl. flights*

Climb Kilimanjaro via the remote and relatively quiet Rongai Route. Situated on the north side of Africa's highest mountain our trek starts close to the Tanzania / Kenya border. The Rongai Route is the longest and most scenic trekking route on Kilimanjaro, providing a gradual climb through forest, farmland and open moor, with expansive views northwards to Amboseli. As an aid to acclimatisation, our easy-paced itinerary includes a rest day at the idyllic Mawenzi Tarn Camp, beneath dramatic rock spires. An early start on the last day of our climb should enable us to reach the high point at Uhuru Peak (5894m) in time to see the summit snows illuminated by the golden light of sunrise. Kilimanjaro's prominence (it is one of the world's tallest freestanding mountains) and its lack of technical difficulty, make it an obvious challenge for regular hikers. This exceptional trekking adventure holiday offers the chance to climb kilimanjaro by way of its finest routes - the Rongai Route.
