With over 200 holidays to choose from, KE Adventure Travel has one of the very best collections of trekking and walking holidays worldwide. Graded on a scale from 1 to 12, we have holidays to suit everyone. Our tougher treks are likely to involve multi-day hikes through wilderness regions, with porter support and tented accommodation. Whilst at the other end of the scale, our softer walking holidays are more likely to be hotel or lodge-based with a day-walk format and an emphasis on uncovering the area's history, culture and cuisine. From our earliest days we've developed a range of treks that include celebrated classics such as Peru's Inca Trail trek, the ascent of Tanzania's Kilimanjaro and the ever popular Everest Base Camp trek in Nepal. Alongside these, we have always made it a priority to seek out distinctive and unique itineraries in less familiar areas such as Armenia, Cameroon, Madagascar and Burma. Whichever of our trekking or walking holidays you choose to undertake, you can be sure you'll enjoy breaking out of your day-to-day routine and exploring exotic landscapes on foot, with the chance to experience different cultures.

High Tatras Trekking - The Carpathian Mountains

Situated on the border between Poland and Slovakia and with 25 summits above 2500 metres (8200 feet), the Tatras is the highest range of the Carpathian Mountains. With a classically Alpine landscape and good trails linking comfortable and scenically located refuges, this is a fantastic area for a mountain walking holiday. From the Polish mountain town of Zakopane, we cross into Slovakia and start our trek amongst the limestone peaks of the Bielskie Tatra. Crossing high passes and following the 'Belvedere Trail' we reach the Popradske Pleso Hut after 3 days. From here, we climb to our high point at the summit of Rysy (2499m / 8199ft), Poland's highest peak. Dropping down on the Polish side, we enjoy 2 further nights at remote refuges and also experience the stunning trek through the valley of the 'Polish Five Lakes'. An afternoon of sightseeing in Krakow is a great way to sign off. Carrying minimal personal equipment, this is an ideal introduction to one of Europe's newest trekking destinations.

When the winter blanket of pristine, white snow settles across northern Europe it’s time to think about a winter activity holiday with a difference. For a more varied and altogether more natural alternative to conventional downhill skiing holidays, you could try a winter activity holiday with a whole range of winter activities: snow-shoeing, dog-sledding, ice-fishing, cross-country skiing, ice-climbing, snowmobiling, even igloo-building! These activities and more are available in the snow-laden wilds of Lapland, where a cosy log cabin and traditional sauna are the perfect places to unwind after a day out in the snow. If you’re lucky you may even spot the Northern Lights too. Alternatively, for an even more surreal and spectacular experience, how about visiting and staying in the unique Ice Hotel in Romania’s Transylvanian Alps? The only way to reach the hotel, which is re-built every winter from ice, is by cable car. When you arrive you can explore the surrounding mountain landscapes on foot with snow-shoes, or try your hand at all kinds of activities from snowmobiling to ice skating or even ice-sculpting. Later you can pay your respects in the ice-chapel, have a cocktail (in an ice glass) at the ice bar, then sleep on an ice bed in your individually, hand-sculpted ice room!

The beautiful Pieniny Mountains provide the perfect backdrop for this long weekend in the crisp Polish winter. We spend an exhilarating few days snowshoeing through the stunning snow-covered surroundings. We also take a torch-lit sleigh ride, enjoy an evening of traditional food and music with the locals and uncover the architectural delights of Krakow.
