The Classic Tour Du Mont Blanc

12 days       from  £1645 excl. flights*

The Tour du Mont Blanc is a classic walking holiday adventure around Mont Blanc in the heart of the Alps of Europe from Chamonix, France trekking through Italy and Switzerland. Starting out in the Chamonix Valley, this superlative walking holiday makes a complete circumnavigation of Mont Blanc and its satellite Alpine peaks. Walking firstly into Italy and then Switzerland, the trekking route follows picturesque Alpine valley trails and walking up and down steep mountain paths. Our walking route also leads us to climb to a succession of scenic and challenging Alpine passes, including the high point of the circuit at the rocky Fenetre d'Arpette (2670m). Lower level highlights include the vibrant Italian Alpine resort of Courmayeur and the charming Swiss village of Champex. As an excellent final day addition to this classic walking holiday around Mont Blanc in the Alps we include the trek to the summit of the Brevent (2525m), for unmatched views of Chamonix, the Aiguille du Midi and Mont Blanc itself. We use a good standard of hotel accommodation throughout and our vehicle back-up means that group members need carry only a small daysack. Suitable for regular hill walkers looking for an Alpine trekking adventure around Mont Blanc, this holiday provides an excellent introduction to long-distance trail walking in the Alps of Europe.Which Tour is for you? The Classic Tour Du Mont Blanc (TMH) or the Ultimate Tour Du Mont Blanc (UTM)? - Both holidays are the same duration and involve 10 days walking without rest days. Whilst the Classic Tour completes the entire circuit, it does miss out a few of the higher cols and refuges, often retuning to the valley to stay in a nice hotel! For those wanting to do the original High Level tour, with a couple of extra nights in Refuges to add character to the route, then the UTM ticks all the boxes. If you are short of time, try the 6-day Best of the Tour Du Mont Blanc (BTM), a shortened version of the Classic Tour, but using vehicle transfers between the best parts of the walk!

KE Adventure Travel has an outstanding collection of climbing holidays that will take you to the world's most spectacular mountain ranges. Our climbing trips usually involve the ascent of snow-covered peaks where climbing ropes, ice axes and other items of mountaineering equipment may be used. Our climbing holidays can involve multi-day approaches on foot to a basecamp below the objective mountain. On this stage of the trip (which is effectively trekking) there will usually be the support of a trek crew to carry personal belongings, along with any tents, group climbing equipment, food and cooking equipment. The climbing is generally above the snow-line and can be at high altitude. Most of our climbing holidays have an experienced Western leader and in the case of our Alpine trips, the leader is always IFMGA qualified. None of our climbing trips requires more than a single mountaineering ice-axe, together with crampons and a climbing harness. Ropes may be used to safeguard steep or exposed sections or crevassed sections of the route. With long days, high altitudes, glacier camping and the possibility of encountering poor weather, these trips can be challenging.
