Famous for its breathtaking scenery, which includes the world's third largest icefields after Antarctica and Greenland, it provides the perfect destination for an off beat Chilean adventure. A trip that can be tailored to suit your needs, you'll start in Santiago and, staying at a mix of lodges and camps, trek, kayak and cruise across some of the most spectacular and remote landscapes in South America. The first part of your journey takes you along the Carretera Austral to the shores of Lake General Carrera, close to where you will begin your four-day kayak down the river to the town of Caleta Tortel. After a brief stay in Coyhaique, the regional capital, you then take a catamaran journey through the southern fjords to the luxurious Puyuhuapi Lodge, your base from which to explore the spectacular scenery of Chilean Patagonia.
