But those that enter will discover a timeless land of colonial elegance and Buddhist tradition that has changed little over the intervening years.This stunning cultural journey takes you from colonial elegance of old Rangoon and Mandalay into a world of Shan villages and sacred mountains, where you can watch the sunset along the banks of the Irrawaddy River and gaze upon the spectacular temple complex at Bagan, home to some of the most revered religious monuments in Southeast Asia. The journey back to Yangon then take you up into the rolling hills of the Shan Plateau, where Lake Inle provides an incredible backdrop of floating gardens and Intha villages. Back in the Burmese capital you'll then have a chance to take a train ride out into the outlying countryside and pay a visit to the market at Insein.
