Climate: Principally desert climate. The northeast monsoon (December to February) brings moderate temperatures in north and hot in south, during the southwest monsoon (May to October) it is torrid in the north and hot in the south. Rainfall is irregular and ther are hot and humid periods (tangambili) between monsoons.

Highest mountain: Shimbiris (2,416m)
